I've decided to take synce-hal for a spin on Ubuntu Hardy. I installed
everything from Marks' repositories at http://www.mpellis.org.uk/debian/.
However, the device will not connect. My computer recognizes the device and
the device's activesync icon spins and says "Connecting" but it will never
connect.

Below is my log from syslog. Any ideas? Thanks! Alan

Hi Alan,

If you are on Hardy please use the PPA as documented here:

http://www.synce.org/moin/SynceWithUbuntu

It will try to install odccm, but installing synce-hal will replace
odccm and then everything is OK.

This is working for me here, but let me know if there are any problems.

Firstly, there is an ubuntu package in launchpad

deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/synce/ubuntu hardy main

I'd recommend using that. I've actually switched to ubuntu, so my deb
repo is generally a bit out of date.

I would also say that network-manager is playing around with the
interface. There's a workaround at

http://www.synce.org/moin/SynceWithUbuntu

basically you have to add a line to /etc/network/interfaces. Let me know
how you get on.

Thanks. I did install using the launchepad repository which worked. My
main reason for switching to yours is to install synce-gvfs. So I also
enabled your repository, locked the versions to launchpad's then installed
your synce-gvfs. All works well now.

I use a manual config on my desktop for my network connection so network
manager isn't a problem.

Thanks again!

connect. My computer recognizes the device and the device's
activesync icon spins and says "Connecting" but it will never connect.
Below is my log from syslog. Any ideas? Thanks! Alan
Firstly, there is an ubuntu package in launchpad
deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/synce/ubuntu hardy main
I'd recommend using that. I've actually switched to ubuntu, so my deb
repo is generally a bit out of date.
I would also say that network-manager is playing around with the
interface. There's a workaround at
http://www.synce.org/moin/SynceWithUbuntu
basically you have to add a line to /etc/network/interfaces. Let me know
how you get on.
