Hi,

Allow me to introduce me, my name is Christophe Ochal. I've been doing
some tests with synce and it striked me that documentation about the
project is scattered all over the place, and i would like to offer help
in maintaining/sorting out the documentation.

I also would like to offer my assistance in terms of betatesting and if
possible, debugging the application in conjunction with my PDA (a PPC
2003 based little old beast) although i realize my coding skills are
most likely insufficiant to offer any fixes.

With kind regards,
Ochal Christophe

That would be awesome. If you check out the archives you'll see I posted
some thoughts about our planned move to the wiki at www.synce.org/moin.
Comments on that would be appreciated.

Again, would be awesome. At present i think it's impossible to sync 2003
without using old versions of everything? (Is there an opensync plugin
for 0.22 that works with 2003 for example...)

Hmm, this has got me thinking. PPC2003 uses RRA rather than Airsync. We
now have an infrastructure allowing access to the RRA library from
sync-engine as we use it to sync files. It would not be impossible to
glue an RRA backend into sync-engine to handle PIM items as well. I
don't have a 2003 device to test with but I do have an older iPAQ with
an earlier version of PPC (that also uses RRA). When I'm finished with
the Opensync 0.3x format conversion stuff I'll investigate..

This would be excellent if you could look at this. I'm quite keen on
keeping legacy support in synCE for as long as possible, hence my
changes in odccm, but syncing (as opposed to connecting) is something I
have no knowledge of besides looking through the old multisync plugin
source. If I can be of any help, let me know.

Please let me know when you're working on this, and if you need an extra
betatester.

Sofar i haven't been able to use odccm, i'm stuck using vdccm, and dccm.
Just what exactly does (o/v)dccm do?

Will do - got a couple of things to do first before I get to it though.

Just checked out the site, on general, using Wiki for documentation
purposes is a good idea, especially if you plan on having multiple
people contributing/editing the documentation.

I also saw on that site that the current available documentation is in
docbook format, and i'm building the documentation (somehow that sounds
way too geeky to be good ;)) as i'm typing this.

Personally, i think the documentation on the Wiki should be as detailed
and up to date as possible, and have the documentation that comes with
synce mirror the content of the wiki, eighter in pure html or in
docbook, if in docbook i'll have to grab the documentation on that
format before i can contribute to that part.

I'm currently using the old depricated multisync with the synce 0.10
binaries i found on a site, i'd have to check in my sources.list to see
just where i found them. This setup works, sort of, seems something has
problems interpreting repeating events, from PDA 2 Evo works, but the
other direction doesn't.

Another problem with this setup is the tendency for it not to sync all
items, haven't looked deep enough into that one yet tho.
