Validate Installed Version

I have gotten the source code for SYNCE, compiled, and installed most of the directories.
I had also installed some older packages, from my distro, for those directories earlier.

How can I validate which version of each of the parts I am actually using?

With great difficulty. Mixing distro packages and self built is very
awkward unless you know the packages well. My advice, uninstall
everything synce you can find, and start again.
