Per your instructions here is info for your use.
Attached before_after file.
Kernel: 2.6.15-27-386 Ubuntu Dapper
Vendor: 03f0 Product: 1016
Brand Model: HP iPAQ rx3715
Terminal A: dccm -d 4 -f ... listening for connection on port 5679
Terminal B: synce-serial-start ... synce-serial-start is now waiting
for your device to connect
The iPAQ says: a very brief window says ... connecting to host
When did you connect the device?
Terminal A never does anything but blink.
Terminal B never does anything at all.
I followed Hack # 23 in Ubuntu Hacks by Jonathan Oxer et. al. by
O'Reilly
And that is...?
I am a recent newbie and have tried to get this thing working for
quite a while. I have no idea where to go now. HELP! HELP!
Could you show an extract from /var/log/messages from when you connect
your device and run synce-serial-start?
