CC'ing to synce-devel as I feel it's appropriate.
else, here's the issue:
SynCE uses a modified version of libwxml2. These patches are
in /trunk/patches/ and how they should be applied to the wbxml2 0.9.2
release tarball is documented on the wiki. With the 0.10.0 release of
SynCE I even released a wbxml2-0.9.2+svn49synce.tar.gz (wbxml2 at SVN
revision 49, with synce patches) to make things very easy.
These patches have been submitted upstream [0], but nothing has been
heard back. There has also been no activity upstream. Previously, even
the website was down, which was quite a bad sign. But just searching
now, showed that the site was back up! *phew*
I'm not sure what else SynCE can do in this situation, apart from
release versions of patched wbxml2, as I did for 0.10.0.
Regarding the Debian package[1], I have thought about submitting the
patches upstream, to make DEB package installation much smoother.
However, seeing that I've already submitted a different bug to the
maintainer and received nowt, I'm not sure this is worth it..
Any other hints, thoughts or suggestions here would be helpful.

Seems I am completely stuck <sigh>. A couple of things I might have
[snip]I've got libwbxml2-0 0.9.2-3 installed. Maybe there's some open issue
with this version?
You shouldn't run the Debian package of libwbxml2. For you, and everyonewith this version?
